Ponicsan to share mystery novel Thursday

Jul 9, 2012 - 03:08 PM

Sonoma resident and author Darryl Ponicsan will be reading excerpts from his latest book, “The Other Romanian” written under the pen name Anne Argula on Thursday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Readers’ Books. The reading will be followed by a discussion and book signing.

In 2002, a golden bookmark was stolen from a Madrid museum. It had been given to Adolph Hitler by his mistress Eva Braun in 1942.

In a sting operation in 2008, at a Starbuck’s parking lot in Seattle, local police and Interpol arrested a Romanian trying to sell the bookmark for $200,000. This was the inspiration for Ponicsan’s latest novel.

It’s the fourth in a series of mystery novels. Quinn, a menopausal detective is the narrator in all four novels; thus, the feminine pen name.

There is no charge to attend.

Readers’ Books is located at 130 E. Napa St.
