Petanque, picnic set for Sunday
The warm weather means it’s time to get out on the petanque course. The Valley of the Moon Petanque Club hosts the “Where’s the Beef? Picnic and Petanque” on Sunday, May 27, in Depot Park.
The day includes a fun petanque tournament, where more advanced players are paired up with less experienced players for a level playing field. Those interested just need to show up to play, registration closes at 10:30 a.m. and the tournament starts at 11 a.m.
At 1 p.m., a gourmet lunch featuring antipasto, a roasted broccoli crown and penne pasta salad, green salad with edible flowers and a caramel bread pudding will be served along with a glass of wine from Wellington Vineyards. Reservations are required by May 25 for lunch by calling 343-9465.
Lunch costs $10, and the tournament fee is $5. Attendees can attend lunch alone, if they prefer socializing over playing.
