Peet’s, a truly local success story

Sep 20, 2012 - 03:55 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

I too agree with Elizabeth Dreyer (Index-Tribune letter, Sept. 18) regarding Peet’s Coffee. Peet started with one store in 1966 in Berkeley. Over the years, because he provided a high-quality product and service to his customers, Peet’s grew exponentially. Their corporate office is in Emeryville and their plant is in Alameda. They are truly a local success story.

You can find Peet’s in Windsor, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Corte Madera, San Rafael and Mill Valley in the North Bay. Xenophobic Sonoma cannot allow such an intrusion?

My goodness, there is another coffee shop in the neighborhood! Traffic will come to a stand-still (see the post office site for traffic and congestion).

Peet’s is a small business writ large with success. Therefore, not in our backyard. Bring on some more tasting rooms!
