BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS Sonoma Valley are holding a late registration session for youth T-ball and coach-pitch baseball for boys and girls at the club’s location in Maxwell Farms Regional Park, 100 Verano Ave., from 6 to 7 p.m. next Tuesday, Feb. 28. There’s still room for approximately 30 more players, with an additional $10 late registration fee. SONOMA SOCCER ACADEMY is holding low-cost training sessions – all abilities and levels of play accepted – for all boy and girl players in the Valley ages 7-to-18-years-old at Altimira Middle School’s field, with the first four sessions free of charge and taking place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, with the paid sessions beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 29, and cost $25 for one weekly session, or $45 for two sessions in a week, with a one-time registration fee of $20, which includes a T-shirt. The soccer training sessions will be directed by Valley resident Mark Carr, who is a former head coach at the University of San Francisco, and an assistant coach at UCLA, holds a USSF “A” license, and is the current scout for the United States Girls Youth National teams. SONOMA VALLEY BABE Ruth Baseball Association is currently accepting late registration by scheduling a sign-up meeting with Mario Alioto at 318-6945, where more details are available. Any new player to Babe Ruth must furnish an original-sealed birth certificate, which will be returned upon inspection by a league officer at the sign-ups. The late registration fee for the 2012 season is $175 a player, and the league also requires each family to work a snack-bar shift during the season and a second check for $100 is needed as a snack-bar deposit. This is a refundable check that will be returned after a snack-bar shift is worked. Also, SVBR is still accepting letters of intent, including a resumé of coaching experience, to manage or coach during the 2012 season, and should forward letters to S.V.B.R., P.O. 2113, Sonoma, CA 95476. SONOMA VALLEY TENNIS Association is still looking for a few more members to complete its men’s 4.0 adult USTA tennis team, captained by Lorna Sheridan and Bob Benz and based at its Maxwell Farms Regional Park courts, for the spring season, which runs from March 26, through July 1. SONOMA VALLEY YOUTH Soccer Association is looking for committed soccer coaches for its select (competitive) program. Anyone interested in coaching a select team for the 2012-13 season can download a coaching application from the SVYSA website www.sonomasoccer.org, and complete and return it by e-mail to selectcoordinator@sonomasoccer.org, or mail it to Select Coordinators, P.O. SONOMA BOCCE BALL Association will open its fourth year of action at the bocce courts south of the gazebo in Depot Park, with its seven leagues – two on Wednesday, one Thursday, two on Friday and one each on Saturday and Sunday – starting play on Wednesday, April 11. Sign-ups are currently being held for new and existing members, with the annual membership cost being $20 a person. To register, checks made out to Sonoma Sister Cities Assoc., can be mailed to John Fanucchi, 1415 Lovall Valley Road, Sonoma, CA 95476. There are few openings in some of the leagues, with the opportunity to start new leagues on Tuesday morning and afternoon, and Thursday morning. Anyone who wants to learn more about the game of bocce can participate in open play on Saturdays, weather permitting, at 10 a.m. beginning March 24.
