New swimming pool in Schellville?

Dec 27, 2012 - 03:03 PM

Editor, Index-Tribune:

What the heck went wrong with the million-dollar drainage ditch by the new stoplight at Broadway and Highway 121 in Schellville?

  It never drains!

Is this the new community swimming pool we’ve been hearing about? Or a training camp for wayward mosquitos?

Sonoma Creek is but a stone’s throw away, yet no one seems to have put in a drain to empty ‘Lake Muddy Water.’

Please don’t try to tie this to global warming. Just help me get to the bottom of this really ‘shovel ready’ project (hint – dig at the south end to connect the ditch to the creek).

I don't think the drainage ditch cost a million dollars. I think the design of the project cost a million. There was no intention on easing flooding, just stopping cars. Heck both the new light and floods accomplish that. We should call it the annual flushing of Schellville.
