Motorcyclist killed in Arnold Drive wreck

Oct 5, 2012 - 11:22 AM

A 43-year-old Sonoma man died Thursday evening when the motorcycle he was driving crashed into two vehicles on Arnold Drive just south of Avenida Sebastiani.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Heath K. Hunter, 43, of Sonoma was killed and his passenger, 34-year-old Angelica Saragosa, also of Sonoma, suffered major injuries in the wreck.

A CHP report said that Hunter was southbound on Arnold Drive at around 8:05 p.m. at an unknown rate of speed. He was just south of Avenida Sebastiani when he collided with the rear of a 1999 Dodge driven by a 47-year-old Sonoma man. After the initial collision, Hunter lost control of his motorcycle and slid into the northbound lane colliding head-on with a 2003 Nissan driven by a 43-year-old Kenwood woman.

The CHP said the motorcycle was pushed under the Nissan resulting in fatal injuries to Hunter.

Saragosa was ejected from the rear of the motorcycle hitting the Nissan’s hood and windshield and was thrown more than 40 feet landing in a drainage ditch on the east side of Arnold Drive. Saragosa was airlifted by Reach helicopter to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa with major injuries.

The driver of the Dodge suffered minor injuries while the CHP reported that the driver of the Nissan didn’t suffer any injuries.

The CHP said that all aspects of the accident are still under investigation.
