On June 12, 2012, Michael Hoopes Smith (Mickey), passed away peacefully at home in Kenwood, from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Mickey is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Withers Dinner. He is also survived by his loving children, Matthew Nelson (Elizabeth) Smith, of San Francisco and Paula Freeman Smith (Corey Limbach), of Berkeley; and his grandson, Thomas Matthew Smith. He is also survived by his step-children, Lisa Nowell, of Sonoma, Lauren Nowell, of Novato and Peter (Denise) Nowell, of San Anselmo; and his loving grandchildren, Tylor Mae Nowell and Parker and Ashley Nowell. He is the cherished brother of Bruce Donald (Anndel Kinnenmonth) Smith III, of Santa Fe, N.M., and Suzanne Smith (John) Williams, of Paradise Valley. Mickey was well loved by friends and family and will be very much missed by sisters-in-law Anne (Brian) O’Dea, of Alamo, Elizabeth (Thomas) Kuhn, of Mill Valley and Catherine (Morey) Serpa, of Santa Rosa, and their families. A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., age 71 years. Mickey was predeceased by his wife, Susan Tylor Smith, his brother, David Paul Smith, and his parents.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service and “Celebration of Mickey’s Life” on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at 3 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 9000 Sonoma Highway, Kenwood, CA.
