Stand By Me Mentoring Alliance enjoyed the “lap of luxury” at Sonoma Raceway during the Indy Grand Prix races in August, thanks to the main sponsor, GoPro. Sixty-four mentors and mentees spent the day in a private suite cheering for first-place winner, Ryan Briscoe, as he crossed the finish line, and they enjoyed lunch and snacks throughout the day. GoPro also handed out hats for all of the kids and adults. At the GoPro tent, mentors and mentees met Bay Area racecar driver, JR Hildebrand, received his autographed poster and took photos with him. Some of the group roamed around the garage area checking out the cars before they left for their race. Others found their way down to the track to cheer for the drivers as they took off. According to Stand By Me Program Director Tina Baldry, the day was a once-in-a-lifetime-experience that created unforgettable memories for the adults and children alike.
