Mario Marino De Lorenzo

Mario Marino De Lorenzo died peacefully in Sonoma on Feb. 6, 2012. He was 86.

A native of San Francisco he was born on Jan. 3, 1926, to Marino and Maria De Lorenzo.  He attended Balboa High School and majored in shop.

During World War II, he worked for the Ration Board and studied to become a commercial electrician, which was his profession for 45 years.  Mario married Dannye Gilman in 1962 and the two moved to Glen Ellen.  Besides being an electrician, he invested in real estate, and worked hard improving these properties.  He was a dedicated worker who could do just about anything himself.

In 1977 he built Stow-Away Mini Storage in Yuba City, the second mini storage company in California, north of Sacramento, at the time.

Mario had an inventive and creative mind and obtained five patents, basically modifying tolls.  His idea of shopping was to check out the tool departments, always looking for something new and different and something he could improve upon.

Mario is survived by his loving wife Dannye, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his loving caregivers, Laura Dominguez, Hilda Napoles, Irma Toscano and Azucena Radillo.

Though a quiet man, he was well liked and had many friends.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral service and celebration of his life on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St., Sonoma, CA.

Interment will follow the service at Mountain Cemetery, 90 First St. W., Sonoma, CA 95476.
