Margery Anne Graham Crawford
Margery Anne Graham Crawford
Margery Anne Graham Crawford passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa on Oct. 12, 2012, at the age of 86.
Born in Mt Lebanon, Pa. on May 12, 1926, to James B. and Elsie G. Graham, she lived a full life. Following graduation from Oberlin College, she worked with her father in the steel industry. She married Lt. Harry W. Spraker, who died in 1951 in the Korean War soon after their marriage.
She moved to San Francisco in 1953, where she worked for The Asia Foundation and married Hilary H. Crawford Jr., in 1954. While her life centered on home and family, her entrepreneurism led her to work with a local start up, and to buy and restore the family’s Edwardian home. She was docent coordinator at Strybing Arboretum before embarking on a very successful real estate career. She was an active member of St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church.
She retired to Sonoma in 1994, where she was a volunteer docent for the Sonoma Mission and an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She moved to Spring Lake Village Retirement Community in 2004, where she was an ESL instructor.
She is survived by her two children, Graham C. Crawford (Susan) and Carol Anne Falstrup (David); four grandsons, Christian, William and Evan Falstrup, and Ryan Jack Crawford; and her brother, James B. Graham Jr. She will be greatly missed, but remembered for her love of family and friends, honesty, community service, sharp wit and passion for books, horticulture and the outdoors.
Friends are invited to a celebration of life on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the residence of Graham and Susan Crawford, 400 La Quinta Lane, Sonoma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to your charity of choice.
