Man stabbed in gang fight
An 18-year-old male suffered multiple stab wounds in what Sheriff’s deputies are calling a gang fight in the parking lot of the Vineyard Market at around 9:49 p.m. Monday.
The Vineyard Market is located near the intersection of Verano Avenue and Highway 12.
According to a release from Sgt. Carlos Basurto, with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office’s Violent Crimes Investigation unit, deputies were sent to the market for a reported gang-fight. By the time deputies arrived, all of the combatants had fled the scene.
But about 10 minutes later, deputies were sent to Sonoma Valley Hospital after a subject arrived at the hospital with multiple stab wounds.
According to Basurto, detectives determined that the 18-year-old stabbing victim had been involved in the melee and had been stabbed by rival criminal street gang members. In addition, a 15-year-old was also assaulted, but suffered what were described as minor injuries.
No arrests have been made and anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Detective Adrian Mancilla at 565-2185.
