Lorene Jaunita (Snodgrass) Farnsworth
Lorene Jaunita (Snodgrass) Farnsworth passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2012.
Lorene was cared for during her illness by her loving husband of 69 years, George Morris Farnsworth Jr., and her long-time caregiver and friend, Maria Sanchez, to whom the family owes a debt of gratitude for her kindness and loyalty.
At 89 years of age, Lorene has joined her parents, Nellie and Wilson Snodgrass, and her much-loved son, George Morris Farnsworth III.
She is survived by her husband, George; children, Nelda (Lance) Heide, Linda (Tom) Austin, Denise (Doug) Hopper, and Larry Farnsworth; and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Farnsworth. She is sorely missed by her sister, Edna Allen; niece, Rebecca (Earl) Parsons; nephew, Randall (BarBara, Payden and David) Allen; niece, Melinda (Steven and Haley) Griffin; her grandchildren, Joshua Heide, Elizabeth (Luke) Probst and Mark Austin; and long-time friend, Loyce Guajardo.
Lorene dedicated her life to her family and friends. While raising her children, she supported her family and husband, George, so he could attend college. When she became a stay-at-home mother, she opened her heart and home and became “mom” and “grandma” to many others. Later in life, she was a charter member of the Sonoma Valley Lionesses and spent many hours fund raising on behalf of various charities and working with the Alzheimer Support Group.
Maria Sanchez has arranged for a Mass to be said in Lorene’s memory on Saturday, June 16, at 5 p.m. at St. Francis Solano Church, Sonoma. A celebration of her life by family will be at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
