Litzenberg wins 5K Vintage Run

SVHS fundraiser’s top-35 finishers

Inspired by being both a competitive long-distance runner and a coach helping put on a benefit for his cross country program, Glen Ellen’s John Litzenberg defended his title by racing to a 5K victory in the recent annual Vintage Run, which started and ended at Sebastiani Winery’s parking lot.

Held as a fundraiser for Sonoma Valley High School’s cross country and track and field programs during the Valley’s Vintage Festival weekend, Litzenberg, the Dragons’ cross country head coach and track and field long-distance coach, won the race, and his 40-to-44-years-old age-group, in 16 minutes, 44 seconds.

The top Vintage Run women’s finisher was Quinn Jensen of Sonoma, who ran in the 14-years-old-and-under age-group and claimed the overall eighth spot in 20:51.

The children’s up-to-8-years-old “Tiny Tracks” race first-place finisher was Nicolas Sebastiani.
