Last gasp for the Vallejo-Castenada Adobe

  The City Council denied the appeal to prevent a wine tasting room at 143 W. Spain St. on Nov. 5 then promptly reconsidered the decision and brought it back before the council on Dec. 3 for further consideration. Who knows why. Maybe it was from tremendous opposition from all the neighbors or they realized the decision was arbitrary in nature. The City Council upheld the appeal for Peet’s coffee based on strong community support and the opportunity for new jobs. Being that the tasting room will not bring any new jobs to the Plaza and the overwhelming opposition from the community, the council should uphold the appeal and deny yet another tasting room.
