Needing one more Sonoma County League win to put themselves in position to claim their second-straight SCL crown, the first-place-tied Sonoma Valley High School varsity volleyball girls made quick work of visiting Elsie Allen last Thursday night in Pfeiffer Gym.
After honoring their two seniors, Allyson Beckwith and Alexis Long-Am, the Lady Dragons quickly took command of their SCL match with Elsie Allen and went on to register a emphatic 25-12, 25-4, 25-12 triumph.
The Sonoma girls’ runaway victory set up tonight’s 6:30 p.m. title showdown at co-defending champion Petaluma, with the winner earning sole possession of the league crown and becoming the top-seed for the annual SCL postseason tournament, which takes place next Tuesday, Oct. 30, and Thursday, Nov. 1.
Leading the Lady Dragons past Elsie Allen were junior Gianna Monterosso’s 25 assists; sophomore Delaney Swanson’s 10 kills; Long-Am’s five serving aces; and Beckwith’s one solo block.
