Lady Dragon golfers edge El Mo behind medalist Dagner
Into his fourth decade as the successful coach of Sonoma Valley High School’s golf programs, Tom Hickerson was encouraged by a good turnout for Sonoma’s girls’ team, and, though it lacks experience outside of three returning starters, it doesn’t lack talent and enthusiam, which showed in its season opener.
Anchored by standout senior Jordann Dagner, the Lady Dragon golfers got their 2012 fall campaign off to an upbeat start by posting a 323-333 victory over visiting El Molino in their Sonoma County League opener Tuesday at the Sonoma Golf Club course.
Leading the Lady Dragons were Dagner’s medalist performance as she fired a nine-hole, low-round score of 52, followed by teammates senior Allison Cogbill’s 66, freshman Callie Hogan’s 67, and juniors Jacquie Peterson’s and Erica Larson’s 69 each.
Along with Dagner, Cogbill and Peterson are Sonoma's returning starters.
The Lady Dragon golfers traveled to Sebastopol yesterday for a league showdown with longtime SCL rival Analy; results not available at presstime.
