Kaelene Puanani Ahu Rey
August 20, 1952, Honolulu, Hawaii - July 22, 2012, Sonoma, California
Kaelene Puanani Ahu Rey passed away peacefully at home in Sonoma with family and dear friends at her side after a valiant battle against a complicated illness.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Bob; their loving sons, Kellen and Ryan; sister, Debra; brothers, Kelly and Bryan; and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Kaelene is remembered for her extraordinary kindness and generosity of spirit which was felt by all those who knew her. She profoundly touched the lives of many in both Hawaii where she grew up and continued to spend time, and in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as Sonoma, where she and Bob settled to raise their boys. Kaelene was deeply engaged in her quiet way in preserving and sharing her Hawaiian heritage in its many manifestations and warmly embraced all who walked into her life.
A memorial service will be held in Hawaii.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Hospice Cares Program of Hospice By The Bay, 17 E. Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Larkspur, CA 94939.

Kaelene,
You are the true embodiment and meaning to the spirit of "ALOHA". From the first day we met in 1994 at Halau Hula O Leilani, when my baby Felila was just four years old. I knew that when we hugged, smiled and embraced each other, that it felt like we had known each other since keiki days in Hawaii! Mahalo for your example of great kindness, the generosity in your heart to all of us, the twinkle in your beautiful brown eyes, this is what I hold close to my heart of you. Bob and the boys will carry on for you, please let us know if ever you need something.Mahalo to you men for the examples of strength, courage and respect and love, that you gave your wife and mother. This selfless action of hope and aloha does not go unnoticed in my book and the great life of Kalene Puanani Ahu Rey. With great admiration for this woman and the Rey Ohana, alofa atu, Faith Thompson Ako

Oh, I am so sad at the loss of my dear, special friend, Kaelene. When I think of her, I remember Warmth, Hospitality, Generosity - her Aloha spirit which opened her heart to anyone who met her - she always found something positive to say about everyone. And, I cannot but comment on her many talents, always surprising me with some new creative project; the jewelry she made me I will treasure always. Also, all of our fun activities throughout the 22 years I have known Kaelene! My heart goes out to Bob, Kellen, Ryan and the rest of the family. I will miss you always but know you are in a good, peaceful place surrounded by the flowers you love.
