John (Jack) Nelson Harmon of Sonoma, passed away on Aug. 18, 2012.
Jack was the youngest son of Leo and Mabel Harmon. Jack was born in Chester, Maine on Oct. 24, 1941. He grew up in Maine and in 1960 he came to California to live with his sister in Garden Grove. A few years later he went to Sonoma with a friend to work a construction job.
He then stayed in Sonoma and later married and had two daughters, Deborah Brain, of Red Bluff, and Theresa Harmon, of Sonoma. He had four grandchildren and a new great-grandson.
He is survived by three siblings, Mona Whiting, of Canyon Lake, Leo Harmon, of Berwick, Maine, and Robert Harmon, of Millinocket, Maine; and many nieces and nephews. His sister, Elaine Reardon, passed away in 2009.
Jack lived in Sonoma for many years and was known as one of the best back-hoe operators in the area.
Graveside services were held Aug. 22, 2012 in Sonoma. However, some of Jack’s family did not receive word of his death or funeral until it was too late to attend, especially family from New England.
The Harmon family will have a memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Valley Cemetery, 425 E. MacArthur St., Sonoma.
Friends of Jack are very welcome to attend.

Jack was my uncle. He wasn't a big man in statue, but to me he was10 feet tall. Jack was only 5 yrs.older than me. We had may wonderful memories. I will miss his laugh and his delight whenever I saw him or we talked. I will truly miss him and hold him always in my hurt. May you forever be at peace. Peggy
