Jack London Park fundraiser April 29
An evening at Benziger Family Winery will toast the power of partnership and the importance of Jack London State Historic Park as a treasure in the Valley.
On Sunday, April 29, all are invited to a special event featuring tasting in the cave, live music, a raffle of large format Imagery and Benziger wines, appetizers by Olive and Vine, and a silent auction of outdoor adventures from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Hear plans for the park and meet the new executive director of Jack London Park Partners, Tjiska Van Wyk. The Valley of the Moon Natural History Association (VMNHA) will soon receive the go-ahead to take on operation of Jack London State Historic Park. Jack London Park Partners is the special project within VMNHA dedicated to park operation and stewardship.
The board welcomes the significant talents of Van Wyk, a specialist in cause marketing with successful campaigns for Sierra Club, Earthjustice, San Francisco Zoological Society and many others. “We welcome the energy and vision of Ms. Van Wyk,” said Elisa Stancil, vice president of VMNHA. “It’s a new day, and through innovative partnerships and skilled leadership VMNHA plans to bring vitality and joy to Beauty Ranch.”
The night will include music by Sue Albano in the Winery Barn, solos al fresco by Stephan Stubbins of Transcendence Theatre Company, appetizers by Olive and Vine, wines from Benziger Family Winery and a toast the future of Jack London State Park.
“Working with the Parks Alliance, California State Parks Foundation and State Park staff our strong and committed board has done all we can to create blue skies ahead for Jack London State Historic Park,” said Greg Hayes, president of VMNHA. “Meanwhile, our ongoing volunteer and interpretive work in Sugarloaf Ridge and Annadel State Parks will continue, and volunteers are keen to lend a hand. Sixty new volunteers will graduate this month.”
Tickets are $40 and guests should bring cash for the raffle. Tickets can be purchased at www.jacklondonpark.org.
Benziger Family Winery is located at 1884 London Ranch Road.
