INFINEON RACEWAY’S 2012 Big O Tires major events schedule will again feature the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, IZOD IndyCar Series and AMA Pro Road Racing, and, for the first time, the FIA World Touring Car Championships. Along with individual race tickets, Infineon will offer a variety of ticket packages to NASCAR in 2012, including the Save Mart Supermarkets 2-Pack – two reserved race-day tickets for $99 – and a chance to get up close to drivers during pre-race festivities with a Pre-Race Pit and Track Pass for just $75. SONOMA VALLEY BABE Ruth Baseball Association is currently accepting late registration by scheduling a sign-up meeting with Mario Alioto at 318-6945, where more details are available. Any new player to Babe Ruth must furnish an original-sealed birth certificate, which will be returned upon inspection by a league officer at the sign-ups. The late registration fee for the 2012 season is $175 a player, and the league also requires each family to work a snack-bar shift during the season and a second check for $100 is needed as a snack-bar deposit. This is a refundable check that will be returned after a snack-bar shift is worked. Also, SVBR is still accepting letters of intent, including a resumé of coaching experience, to manage or coach during the 2012 season, and should forward letters to S.V.B.R., P.O. 2113, Sonoma, CA 95476. SONOMA VALLEY YOUTH Soccer Association is looking for committed soccer coaches for its select (competitive) program. SONOMA SOCCER ACADEMY will be holding low-cost training sessions – all abilities and levels of play accepted – for all boy and girl players in the Valley ages 7-to-18-years-old at the Altimira Middle School’s field, with the first four sessions free of charge and taking place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays starting this Wednesday, Feb. 15. The paid sessions begin on Wednesday, Feb. 29, and cost $25 for one weekly session, or $45 for two sessions in a week, with a one-time registration fee of $20, which includes a T-shirt. The soccer training sessions will be directed by Valley resident Mark Carr, who is a former head coach at the University of San Francisco, and an assistant coach at UCLA, holds a USSF “A” license, and is the current scout for the United States Girls Youth National teams. SONOMA BOCCE BALL Association will open its fourth year of action at the bocce courts south of the gazebo in Depot Park, with its seven leagues – two on Wednesday, one Thursday, two on Friday and one each on Saturday and Sunday – starting play on Wednesday, April 11. Sign-ups are currently being held for new and existing members, with the annual membership cost being $20 a person.
