‘Hunting for Bucks’ at the Moose Lodge
JoyRide will perform at the "Hunting for Bucks" benefit Saturday
Sometimes in this life of ours, making a right turn instead of a left, getting caught at that red light or even oversleeping for just 10 minutes can change the events of a lifetime. On Nov. 8, 2012, the events of a lifetime were changed for a young Sonoman, Jarrad Plaskett, in form of a huge chunk of a tree falling from the sky after breaking off from a crane and landing directly on him. After being in a coma and then weeks in intensive care, it was thought that Plaskett would be hospitalized for at least four months, but after seven weeks, he arrived home. His recovery is progressing, but he will need rehabilitative care for at least a year, and once again, our community steps up. Valley of the Mooneyhan Promotions and the Native Sons of the Golden West Parlor #111, along with local musicians BackTrax, Train Wreck Junction and JoyRide have come together to put on a fundraiser for Plaskett at the Moose Lodge on Saturday, Jan. 12, kicking off at 3 p.m. Plaskett is an avid hunter, so the event is being called “Hunting for Bucks.” There will be a spaghetti dinner, silent auction, door prizes and the event is family friendly, so children are welcome. Don’t worry about missing the playoff game either, as it will be broadcast at the event. Live music kicks off promptly at 3 p.m. with JoyRide. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at WestAmerica Bank or Pharmaca. For more details about the event or how you can help out, call Katie at 486-5641.
