Hotel will enhance Sonoma
Editor, Index-Tribune:
I respectfully disagree with Bob Blosser’s letter about the proposed Chateau Sonoma Hotel. I find the design of the building to be inviting and visually pleasing – a definite improvement to what is there currently. The size of the building is suitably scaled, with the largest portion of the hotel off the street. C’est magnifique!
I challenge all those who believe that the design of the hotel does not fit into the architecture of the Sonoma square to answer the question: What is the architecture of the Sonoma square? To me the square reflects a melting pot of different styles. From the Sonoma Cheese Factory building, to the Ledson Hotel, to the Bank of America building; the square offers guests and residents a uniqueness that is only Sonoma.
As for calling the design “low-rent,” when have the Andersons ever done anything low-rent? I am confident the Andersons and Michael Ross will create a hotel that not only fits into our beloved square, but will enhance it.
