Homework Club, a wonderful dad, and a plea for tutors
Editor, Index-Tribune:
This is about a wonderful dad. He has a son going to Adele Harrison Middle School who brought home schoolwork that this dad couldn’t help his son complete. He had read about the Homework Club at the high school, so he showed up Tuesday afternoon with son and homework and asked if we could possibly help them.?
We were happy to help and it gave us pause to rethink Homework Club. We now want it known we are happy to help any students with their homework. It is on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3 to 4:30 p.m., at the No Name Cafe on the campus of SVHS.
That said, if anyone can spare a few hours a week helping our students, we really, really, need more tutors. So stop in at Homework Club and join us. For more information, call Annie Falandes at 938-3209.
To the awesome dad, thanks for doing such a good job with your son.

I'm a tutor at the Homework Club and I love it! It's so well organized, friendly and focused on helping students do better. Whether it's students helping each other and opting out of having a tutor but just gathering to study or one-on-one attention for a student that is struggling, it is a wonderful atmosphere. The Homework Club is something I look forward to going to since it also keeps my own brain from getting too rusty in my two favorite subjects: math and science. Annie, thank you so much for all you did to get this started and I truly hope to see more tutors come in...we have bagels!
