Hike, taste to mark Jack London’s birthday

Jan 10, 2013 - 05:09 PM

Jack London State Historic Park and neighboring Benziger Winery will celebrate Jack London’s birthday with a docent-led hike and wine tasting on Sunday, Jan. 20. The hike begins at 10 a.m. with the tasting to follow at 11:30 a.m.

The docent led tour of Beauty Ranch will focus on London’s pioneering experiments in sustainable agriculture. He began this innovative work in 1911, ahead of his time as he sowed the seeds for the sustainable farming concepts that have since become a regular part of life and work in Sonoma Valley, especially at Benziger Family Winery, a leader in biodynamic viticulture and farming.

Tickets for hike and tasting are $15 and can be purchased in advance online at jacklondonpark.com. Visitors should note there is a $10 parking fee at the entrance.
