High school locked down
Shortly after lunch on Monday, Sonoma Valley High School was placed on lockdown due to a possible student threat.
According to Sonoma Police Chief Bret Sackett, a student left a note on a teacher’s desk alleging that another student might have a gun on campus.
School authorities immediately called police and simultaneously located the student in question as all students were locked in their classrooms.
Sackett said the student in question was cooperative and police quickly determined there was no merit to the threat and there was no gun on campus.
Sackett praised the work of Sgt. Dave Thompson and school resource officer Matt Regan, among others, in quickly resolving the issue with a minimum of drama and campus disruption.
The lockdown was lifted at 2 p.m. and classroom instruction continued.
