Helen Garcia

Helen Garcia passed away in her home on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012. Helen was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister and aunt. She worked at Sonoma Development Center for 10 years as a psychiatric technician, taking care of developmentally disabled infants. After retiring from SDC, she opened her own day care and foster care at her home, where she cared for more than 100 foster children from Sonoma, Marin and San Francisco counties. Also, she provided child care for many families from Sonoma Valley.

To her extended family she was known as “Mama Helen” for her generosity, loving ways, and encouragement to always seek the best in life.

Surviving Helen is her son, Micheal; her daughters, Jennifer, Helen, Janeth and Valentina; many grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and the love of her life, Victor Garcia.

Her family will remember Helen for living life with great passion and amazing perseverance. She met life’s challenges with poise and dignity. She took great pride in caring for everyone who surrounded her. She will be greatly missed; may her beautiful soul rest in peace.

My heartfelt Sympathy and love goes out to each of you.

Kathy, is my best friend/sister.
Marianne is a special friend, also.

I had the priviledge and honor of meeting Mrs. Helen, when
she came to Meridian, to see Mrs. Hazel.
Mrs. Helen, was so sweet. She was the type of person, when
you first met her, she left a wonderful impression on our
hearts.

May God bless each of you and give you HIS comfort and peace,
is my prayer.

Love and prayers, to each of you.
Barbara Frey (Fry)

Thank you so much for your loving comments about my mom. I am so glad you got to met her. She was one very special lady. She will be missed by so many. She touched so many lives with the love she had for all of us and the hundreds of children and families that knew her. It means so much to us Mrs. Barbara to hear your wonderful memories of our mother.
Bless You
Helen's daughter, Little Helen
