Giangrecos honored at Mardi Gras celebration
MICHAEL AND RONDA GIANGRECO were named king and queen of the Mardi Grad celebration at Meadowcroft, taking place this Saturday, Feb. 18.
Sonoma residents Ronda and Michael Giangreco have been named King and Queen for Meadowcroft's second annual Mardi Gras celebration, set for Saturday, Feb. 18, from noon to 4 p.m. at its tasting room at CornerStone Sonoma.
The Giangrecos will receive their crowns, scepters and capes from last year’s King Ken Brown and Queen Michele Anna Jordan at the start of the Mardi Gras celebration.
“We are thrilled to announce that Ronda and Mike Giangreco have agreed to become our Queen and King of this year’s Krewe of Meadowcroft,” said Tom Meadowcroft, owner and winemaker of Meadowcroft Wines. “They are both very community oriented as well as great ambassadors of the city of Sonoma.”
Ronda Giangreco, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis several years ago, embarked on a year-long journey to combat the disease by preparing 52 weeks of Sunday dinners throughout all of 2010. She has since written “The Gathering Table – Defying Multiple Sclerosis with a Year of Pasta, Wine and Friends.” The book, with a forward by famed Napa Chef Michael Chiarello, will be released in the first week of March, just in time for National Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week, which begins March 11.
Michael Giangreco has worked as a newspaper advertising executive and publisher of newspapers in California and Tennessee and now serves as the publisher of Wine Country This Week.
The celebration also features St. Gabriel’s Celestial Brass Band and food prepared by Margie Brooke and her staff at Community Café and Catering. The Krewe of Meadowcroft Mardi Gras party is $55.
