Fundraiser to support independent film on bread

Nov 1, 2012 - 04:41 PM

The fundraiser “Breaking Bread: Kneading Culture” will be an evening of food, music and film on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St.

The event will raise money to support local filmmaker Colin Blackshear, who is creating a film about the history of bread and its place in Sonoma County, featuring Sonoma baker and member of the U.S. Baking Team, Mike Zakowski.

The night begins with music from Arann Harris and the Farm Band, the Penny Hens and Sean Carscadden and Marty O’Reilly. “Farm to table food” will be prepared by Charlene Nicholson, formerly of Chéz Panisse, with flatbreads from Zakowski. Guests will get to see a pre-screening of Blackshear’s film. The night also includes a silent auction.

Tickets are $100, four for $350 or eight for $600, and are available at brownpapertickets.com by searching “Breaking Bread: Kneading Culture.”
