VALLEY OF THE Moon Pétanque Club, which plays at the Henri Maysonnave Memorial Courts in Sonoma’s Depot Park, continues to offer events on both the west and east coasts for its members to partake, including this Sunday’s, Aug. 19, first annual Lamorinda Cup Tournament. The Wine Country Classic in remembrance of Tino Lofaro takes place Sunday, Aug. 26, with the New York Pétanque Club select doubles also being held on Sunday, Aug. 26, followed by the Emile Furlan Memorial Tournament the weekend of Sept. 1 and 2. SONOMA AQUATIC CENTER continues its summer swim programs for ages 3-months-old to adults and include the Sea Dragons; swim lessons (ages 3-and-older); stroke school (ages 5-and-older, deep-water safe); water polo clinics (ages 7-to-14); parent and tot water classes (ages 3-to-36 months); and adults and masters swim programs. SONOMA VALLEY MENTORING Alliance and the Kiwanis Club of Sonoma Plaza will co-host the second annual Golf-A-Thon on Friday, Sept. 7, at the Oakmont Golf Club’s East Course in Santa Rosa, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. There’s no cost for golfers, who are asked to solicit $1,000 in pledges, which are considered a donation and are 100-percent tax deductible. Golfers, playing in twosomes, will be provided with a cart, boxed lunches and water, and will play as many holes as they can in the one day.
