Today ends the first week of the earliest preseason workout-start ever for Sonoma Valley High School fall sports, and, while most of Sonoma’s autumn athletic programs start their official practice sessions next week, the varsity and junior varsity football teams began on Monday and are already in full-practice mode.
Along with football – with the freshman gridders starting practice this Monday, Aug. 13 – Sonoma’s fall sports programs include girls’ volleyball, boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ and girls’ cross country, boys’ and girls’ water polo and girls’ tennis and golf.
Any student-athlete wanting to participate in Sonoma’s 2012 fall sports programs needs to have all her or his paperwork – including current mandatory physical examinations, proof of insurance, completed emergency cards, signed (student and parent) code of conduct forms and paid fees – completed before practicing.
Forms for athletic participation are available from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at the SVHS student activities office until this Wednesday, Aug. 15, when the school year begins and the office will be open until 3:30 p.m.
Paperwork, paid fees and proof of physical for all Sonoma fall athletes can be turned in at the student activities office or during Sonoma’s “Rush” program, which concludes today.
