Florence Loretta Dowdall

  Florence Loretta Dowdall passed peacefully away in her sleep at her home in Sonoma on Jan. 25, 2012. She was 101.

  Florence was a native of San Francisco and moved to Sonoma in 1942 when she married Jerry Dowdall, grandson of the Irish pioneer family that settled in El Verano in the 1850s.

  She was an active member of many organizations over the years including the Vintage House senior center, St. Francis Mother’s Club, St. Leo’s Guild and St. Francis Guild.

  Florence was the loving mother of Gregory Dowdall, of San Francisco, Terrence Dowdall, and his wife, Michelle, of El Verano; she was the loving grandmother of Debra Dowdall Trantow, of Glen Ellen, Christina Madrigal, of Calistoga and Stacy Dowdall, of Long Beach. She was the dear great-grandmother of Lauren, Santiago and Pierce Madrigal, Tyler Trantow and Matthias Thellier.

  She is also survived by her special friend and caregiver, Kini Babaloa.

  Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, from 2 p.m. followed by a vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St., Sonoma, CA 95476.

  A funeral Mass will be said at St. Leo’s the Great Catholic Church, 601 W. Agua Caliente Road, Sonoma, CA 95476 at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012.

  Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Santa Rosa.

  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to; St. Leo’s the Great Catholic Church, 601 W. Agua Caliente Road, Sonoma, CA or to St. Anthony’s Dinning Room, 101 8th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103.
