End of the year music and New Year’s Eve happenings

  This week, we’re rolling right out of the weekend into New Year’s Eve, so we’ll lay out what’s happening then later in the column. But first, what’s going on this weekend:

  Murphy’s Irish Pub has the Timothy O’Neil Band tonight, Dec. 28, starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, it’s comedy night with Joe Klocek, Matt Gubser, Kevin Tienken and Torio Van Grol along with a musical opening act. There will be two shows, at 6:30 p.m. and again at 9:30 p.m. For tickets and more info, call 548-1225. Sunday, Dec. 30, the pub welcomes Arann Harris and the Bad Farmers for a 6:30 p.m. show.

  The Eric James Tasting Room welcomes Macy Blackman tonight, Dec. 28, for a 7 p.m. start time. Saturday, Dec. 29, it’s Tim Eschliman and Kevin Zuffi, also for a 7 p.m. start.

  The Sonoma Springs Brewing Company welcomes Judy Williams and Wildflower Weed tonight, Dec. 28, starting at 5:30 p.m.

  The Plaza Bistro has the John Kalleen Group tonight, Dec. 28, for a 6:30 p.m. show.

  The Ledson Hotel has music in the lounge on Saturday, Dec. 29, with Dan Daniels and Jack Pollard. As an entertainer and a showman, Pollard brings a lifetime of experience to the stage. He features a repertoire of songs which span decades of hits from the ’30s to the ’80s. His shows encompass jazz, blues and R&B to bring you a varied palette of songs with something to please everyone. Showtime is 6 p.m. and there is no cover.

  HopMonk Tavern Sonoma welcomes Chris Ahlman tonight, Dec. 28, for a 9 p.m. show. Saturday, Dec. 29, the tavern welcomes Solid Air. There is no cover either night.

  The Gristmill Bar and Grill in Glen Ellen has the Alan Early Trio on Saturday, Dec. 29, for an 8:30 p.m. show. The band plays jazz and standards. There is no cover.

  The John Burdick Band is back at Olive and Vine on Sunday, Dec. 30, as part of the Sunday Supper Club shows. The act plays many of Burdick’s originals along with some creative versions of popular songs. The show gets underway at 6 p.m.

  The Kathmandu Corner has Rhys Wade tonight, Dec. 28, kicking off at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, it’s Miles Wick and Alex Rather-Taylor. The duo will be performing songs from their individual CDs and maybe some duos as well, in advance of their spring California tour. That show also goes off at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, the corner welcomes 2 Friends and a Benz for an early show that kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

  The Epicurean Connection has the Cork Pullers tonight, Dec. 28, for a 7:30 p.m. show. Saturday, Dec. 29, it’s a special performance by Sarah Summers, back in town for the holiday break, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, the connection has Open-Mic piano bar, with Lynn MacArthur, starting at noon.

  The Blue Moon Saloon has Karaoke on Saturday, Dec. 29, kicking off at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, the blues jam continues, starting at 10 p.m.

  The Tonewoods will be at A’Roma Roasters in Santa Rosa on Saturday, Dec. 29, for an 8:30 p.m. show.

  Now, on to Monday, Dec. 31; New Year’s Eve.

  Loosely Covered will be at the HopMonk Tavern Sonoma for a no-cover extravaganza, kicking off at 9 p.m.

  Murphy’s Irish Pub has the typical dual New Year’s Eve parties, one at 3 p.m. which is midnight in Ireland with Shards of Green, and the second kicking off at 9 p.m. with Cynthia Carr and the Carrtunes, going off at 9 p.m.

  The Sonoma Mission Inn will ring in the New Year early with a show by Don Trotta that goes off at 6 p.m.

  Meritage Martini and Oyster Bar welcomes 3 on a Match for a New Year’s celebration kicking off at 9 p.m.

  The El Verano Inn has the Mountain Squirrel along with the traditional party hats and noise makers and even a champagne toast at midnight. There is no cover.
