Coming off a much-needed bye after posting a 2-2 nonleague preseason record, and dropping their Sonoma County League opener for a 2-3 overall mark at the halfway point of the regular season, Sonoma Valley High School’s varsity football boys will welcome one of the SCL’s new SCL school-members next.

The Dragons will host Piner – which along with Elsie Allen switched over from the North Bay League to the SCL while Casa Grande and Windsor joined the NBL – in this Friday’s, Oct. 5, homecoming game at Arnold Field. With the junior varsity playing at 5, the varsity SCL showdown kicking off at 7:30 p.m.

In the nonleague preseason, the Sonoma gridders beat both Redwood and San Marin, while falling to Terra Linda and American Canyon.

Then in their SCL opener in Sebastopol, the Dragons were defeated by a strong, high-scoring and unbeaten Analy team.
