In their first test of playing at game speed, instead of practice speed, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity football boys, who hosted Santa Rosa in their annual preseason scrimmage Friday at Arnold Field, looked hungry for action, played aggressively and looked ready to kick off the regular season.
Well, they won’t have to wait long for the action that counts, with the Dragons hosting nonleague Redwood in the 2012 season for both teams this Friday, Aug. 24, at Arnold Field, with the junior varsity starting at 5 and the varsity playing at 7:30 p.m.
Sonoma’s gridders will continue their nonleague games against Marin County teams when they travel to Terra Linda on Saturday, Sept. 1, before hosting San Marin on Friday, Sept. 7, with their final preseason game at American Canyon on Friday, Sept. 14.
The Dragons Sonoma County League opener is on Friday, Sept. 21, against Analy in Sebastopol.
