Dragons hit the ground running
SVHS report
Welcome to the Sonoma Valley High 2012-13 school year. We are very excited to get the new school year underway with some exciting new programs and offerings being implemented and continued this year.
This month we launch our Linked Learning Pathway in the 10th grade, centered on engineering. The engineering team has been working diligently to get this new program ready for our students. And this fall we start the second year of our ninth-grade teams. Last year, our team teachers exceeded expectations and they will continue to provide a transition program for high school freshman that will set the stage for our graduating seniors to be college and career ready.
I believe the more students, families and community members are involved with our school, the better off our community and students will be. I have a goal of making Sonoma Valley High School a world-class high school. I challenge every Sonoma Valley resident to attend and/or participate in at least 10 school-related events during the next school year. And I challenge our school parents and guardians to double that number and attend and/or participate in at least 20 school-related events. Please help me in reaching my goal by communicating this challenge to others, attending/participating in school events and encouraging and supporting others to get involved.
We are eager to keep in touch with our school families about the wide range of activities going on at the high school and about the deadlines that will be important to your student. If you have not already provided us with an email address (or several) for your family, please do so by contacting Sherry Anderson at SAnderson@sonomavly.k12.ca.us so that you can receive our daily email bulletin.
I encourage you to play an active role in your student’s education and participate in Dragon and community events. Please join the Boosters Club and volunteer as much as possible. Please do not hesitate to call me, at 933-4030, or email me at dbattaglini@sonomavly.k12.ca.us with any questions or concerns.
I look forward to greeting all of our students in the first weeks of school. It is a truly exciting time to be a Dragon!
