Dragon grapplers headed to Reno classic

With two big season-opening tournaments under their belts, Sonoma Valley High School’s varsity wrestlers will next compete in a major tourney including some of the top grapplers from multiple western states at the annual, and challenging, Sierra Nevada Classic in Reno, which runs from this Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 26 to 28.

Leading the Dragons in one of the premier prep wrestling events in the country are standout co-captains seniors Aidan Lacy, Giordi Serafini and Sam Denning, and junior Max Schimm.

After the Reno experience, the Dragon wrestlers will then open their 2013 Sonoma County League dual-match season against El Molino in Forestville on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Sonoma’s annual Valley of the Moon Classic is slated for Friday and Saturday, Jan. 4 and 5, in Pfeiffer Gym.
