  Greetings Sonoma!

I hope all your Valentine’s Day dreams came true. I know our cupid’s arrow has been busy with 11 adoptions (nine cats and two dogs) since the beginning of the month. That is almost one adoption a day if you don’t count the two days a week we are closed.

That is awesome. We are especially happy to report that two of our long-term feline residents, Boeing and Lacey, were adopted together. Now that is one romantic happy ending as both cats were loners, not real social with people, but fell deeply in love with each other in the cat room. Thank you to the wonderful adopter who gave the sweet couple a home together.

I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Bob Edwards of SVDOG (Sonoma Valley Dog Owners and Guardians) who was the driving force of the presentation that SVDOG and Pets Lifeline made to the City Council at the Feb. 6 meeting. For those who are not familiar, SVDOG and Pets Lifeline offered to coordinate efforts to submit recommendations to the council in response to the vicious dog issue back in the fall. The presentation was warmly received, and focused on the positive aspects of Sonoma’s ability to work together as a community to promote responsible pet ownership. The details of the recommendations are available online at www.sonomacity.org in the Agendas and Minutes section.

Pets Lifeline’s second annual Tailwags and Handbags ladies luncheon is set this year for Friday, April 20, at Estate. Please dig through your closets and see if you have any never-used or gently-used couture labeled, vintage or one-of-a-kind handbags that you would like to see go to a good cause. We will be taking donations starting Monday, Feb. 20. Last year, we were graced with more than 100 handbags and we auctioned more than 60 of them at the event. It was so much fun – a sunny low-key afternoon with friends, fine wine, food and shopping. What could be better?  Tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 27, so ink us in on your calendar for lunch with Pets Lifeline on Friday, April 20.

Speaking of tailwags, we have some delightful smaller dogs available for adoption right now. Charlie and Remy, two chihuahua mix brothers who are just the cutest things in the world; Oreo, a precious Boston terrier; Timmy the sweetest little chihuahua you’ll ever see (he likes to be held like a baby); and of course our beloved Mama Lucy. If you are looking for a smaller dog, then please go to our website at www.petslifeline.org and have a look. If you like what you see, come down for a meet or give us a call to find out more. Remember, scatter joy wherever you go!

With a wag and a woof, can’t wait to see you soon.
