Dogs and parks
Editor, Index-Tribune:
Sunday, a neighbor lady took her dog to the park for some exercise. A few moments later a very polite policeman informed her there was an ordinance prohibiting dogs in any park other than the dog park. No ticket, just a warning.
Kids and dogs, old timers and dogs, families and dogs in parks is as American as apple pie and should not be restricted or limited to a specific park.
Now, if a renegade dog owner does not pick up his or her dog’s droppings, and some kids slide through it, the owner needs to be busted.
I have lived in this town for nearly 30 years and apart for the past two years, been a dog owner. I have never been so shocked and angered by the City Council, or whomever it was who found this obscure decree and decided to have it enforced.
Our neighborhood park is a quiet place where kids play on the slides and things, and the old folks enjoy the surroundings, sit around and chat while the dog does his sniffing around.
Let’s not spoil a good thing for no good reason.

Now all we have to do is hire additional policeman to look for the "Renegade" dog owners. Sounds like a great detail for the police.
Or how about a Vigilante" group to patrol the park.
The way it is now you can walk through the plaza & not have to look down everytime you cross a grassy area. Makes for a very pleasant experience.
Go up 1st St. West to the dog park.......................
