J Love Productions offers up “Defying Gravity,” a musical tongue-in-cheek romp from adolescence to maturity on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 7 and 8, at 8 p.m. at Andrews Hall, Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St.

The production highlights local singers Monica McKey, Jeane MacPherson, Kerry Daly, Lori Bailey and Jaime Love.

“The evening will take you on a funny, sometimes poignant musical trip through our lives, complete with anecdotes about life’s ups and downs. The stories are personal but the themes are universal, and these ladies are so talented and funny,” said Love.

Musical accompaniment will be provided by Music Director Laura Farber, bass played by John Paul Norris and Marc Ikeda on drums.

“Defying Gravity” is presented courtesy of the Sonoma Theatre Alliances Summer Nights series, which runs various week nights throughout the summer.

“We are proud to announce that we will be donating proceeds to the Rotary Challenge Grant, dedicated to renovations in Andrews Hall, scheduled to begin January of 2013. Plans are underway to make Andrews Hall a dedicated performance space, and we’re excited to help that goal along,” said Love, producer of J Love Productions and director of the Sonoma Theatre Alliance.

Tickets are $16 and available through the Sonoma Valley Box Office by calling 938-4626, ext. 1, or at sonomacommunitycenter.org.
