Cuclis is grateful for votes
Editor, Index-Tribune:
Now that all the votes have been counted and the results are official, I want to thank the voters for electing me as the Area 1 Trustee on the Sonoma County Board of Education.
I am especially appreciative of the individuals who brought to my attention the situation on the county school board and asked me to run. I would not have run if they hadn’t asked, because running for another office immediately after the June county supervisor’s election was the last thing on my mind.
To set the record straight, the incumbent I defeated is a Santa Rosa resident living in Oakmont. (It was inaccurately reported in an editorial in this newspaper Nov. 2, that Alex Bantis lives in Kenwood.) One of the individuals who encouraged me to run stated how this was the only opportunity left for Sonoma Valley to have true representation from one of its own in a county office. That argument convinced me to run, and I’m glad I did. Thank you again.

Gina,
First, congratulations!
I am, however, concerned by your rhetoric. By your own reasoning, am I to conclude that the Santa Rosa residents in your district now do not have "true representation"? Or, are Santa Rosa candidates the only ones incapable of representing another part of the district? As a Santa Rosa resident who just voted for you, I am concerned about your "us versus them" rhetoric. I hope sociocentrism will not be a guiding principle in your votes.
Best,
Michael Aparicio
