Council will elect new mayor on Monday
The Sonoma City Council will elect a new mayor when it meets Monday.
Current Mayor Joanne Sanders is leaving the council after eight years. She decided not to run for re-election this fall.
The current council will recognize the service of City Manager Linda Kelly, Public Works Director Milenka Bates and City Engineer Toni Bertolero, all of whom are moving on. In its consent calendar, the council will also approve the hiring of Carol Giovanatto as city manager replacing Kelly.
After Mayor Pro Tem Ken Brown presents a plaque and the mayor’s gavel to Sanders, the new councilmembers, Laurie Gallian and David Cook will be sworn in and will elect a new mayor and mayor pro tem.
The first order of business for the new council will be to discuss and possibly approve the Capital Improvement Plan for 2013 and resolutions amend the 2013 operating budget to include allocations for Capital Projects.
The council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, in the Community Meeting Room, 177 First St. W. The public is invited.
