Cook Vineyard Weekly Newsletter 4.23.12
The vineyards are growing with this great warm weather. The past week has been perfect for vine growth. Our soil with moisture from the rains a few weeks ago combined with the warm sunlight has allowed the vines to thrive.
The main question “How does this affect the vines” can easily be answered by it’s definitely a plus.
A few weeks ago we were a little concerned that the cool weather was delaying our growth cycle and might cause “Spring Fever”. This is when the vines don’t get a lot of sun early in the year and have a hard time growing in cool conditions. With the warm week behind us it is no longer a concern.
The next few weeks will be busy in the vineyards; we will be mowing, disking, suckering, applying fungicides and even testing out our irrigation systems.
Spring is a busy time of the year.
