Cook Vineyard Weekly Newsletter 3.12.12

Mar 12, 2012 - 10:47 AM

The forecast for this week looks promising for some much needed rain. Even though the amounts may be around an inch to possibly 2 inches total, all the rain we get now is great timing. Cool weather along with soil moisture slows down the emerging buds, which relates to bud break being delayed.

We are not on frost alert now, but are watching the vineyards daily for bud break. After this next series of small storms, we are predicting some cold weather to move in and will begin turning on fans where needed.

For those of you that live near these vineyards we apologize in advance. There is a small window of frost threat during the growing season and normally turn on the fans about ten times during the months of March and April.

If anyone wants to visit us in the vineyards to learn more about the world of viticulture, Please call us at 707.490.8921. Also check our website  www.cvmgrapes.com.
