Cocktail contest kicks off Sweetheart Auction

Nov 15, 2012 - 03:53 PM

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley is kicking off its 28th annual Sweetheart Gala and Auction with a Moulin Rouge inspired art show and signature cocktail contest, the later of which is open to all.

In partnership with the Arts Guild of Sonoma and the El Dorado Kitchen (EDK), the event will take place Thursday, Dec. 5, at El Dorado Kitchen from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event will feature a preview of original art that is being created especially for the Sweetheart Gala and Auction, set for Feb. 9, by Sonoma Arts Guild artists. Each piece will be inspired by the gala’s theme, Moulin Rouge, and will be auctioned at the Sweetheart Gala and Auction.

The winner of the Sweetheart Auction Moulin Rouge Signature Cocktail Contest will be announced at the EDK event, where the cocktail will be served for $10.

The contest ends Friday, Nov. 23. The winner will receive two tickets to the Sweetheart Gala and Auction (value $400) on Feb. 9 and their cocktail will be served at the event.

To enter an original Moulin Rouge inspired cocktail in the contest, participants must include their name, address, phone number, cocktail name, ingredients and method, which can be emailed to bwells@bgcsonoma.org; mail it to BGCSV, PO Box 218, El Verano, CA 95433; or send the club a Facebook message.

The 28th annual Sweetheart Gala and Auction is the Boys & Girls Clubs’ biggest fundraiser of the year. The gala features a live and silent auction, dinner and service by the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, dancing and a casino.

This year’s event takes place Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Maxwell Clubhouse and will honor 2013 Sweethearts John and Deborah Emery, longtime volunteers and supporters of the club.

Tickets are limited and on sale now. For tickets, call 938-8544, ext. 120, or purchase online at bgcsonoma.org.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley is the only multi-location, year round youth facility offering afterschool education and development programs to more than 2,000 Sonoma Valley youth annually.

The club has been serving Sonoma Valley youth since 1962.
