Club volleyball teams achieve top-10 finishes in large NorCal league
Valley father, daughter coach spikers into regionals
With a strong and talented group of girls from both Sonoma and Napa valleys combining to form the local club 4:13 Black 16-1 and 4:13 Black 15-1 volleyball teams, Valley coaches David Rentz and daughter Natalie (Rentz) Dusak guided them through a challenging season, which culminated with a pair of impressive finishes.
After their solid competitive regular-season showing, and reaching the regionals in the recently concluded Northern California Volleyball Association’s 149-team area league, both local teams ended up facing each other in the regional finals at San Francisco State University.
Engaged in a closely contested regional-final match, coach (Rentz) Dusak’s 4:13 Black 16-1 spikers nipped her father Rentz’s 4:13 Black 15-1 squad by 25-23 scores, and capped the NorCal Volleyball Association’s 149-team area league seventh- and eighth-place finishes, respectively.
Comprising coach (Rentz) Dusak’s 4:13 Black 16-1 volleyball team were Kara Gittings, Chelsea Krause, Erica Larson, Ella Mighell, Giana Monterosso, Taylor Peterson, Meghan Piatti-Cosgrove, Janeth Silva, Jazmin Silva and Emma Stevens.
The Rentz-coached 4:13 Black 15-1 team consisted of Maddie Dougherty, Katelynn Hayden, Shelley Marmaduke, Cheyenne McCambridge, Emma Nyberg, Hannah Powers, Jovanna Quezada, Gabby Reed, Emma Stanfield, Kerstin Steiger and Sami Von Gober.
