Chateau Sonoma – please, not there!
Editor, Index-Tribune:
This is one of the worst places to put such a large development, it is overwhelming to even consider.
The design of such a large building on the edge of the historic Plaza would fit in much better down on Broadway, as was mentioned in one of the comments printed in the Index-Tribune. Maybe on the land that used to be the home of Sonoma Truck and Auto. And toned down a bit; two restaurants? Do we need another two so close to the Plaza?
Traffic, of course, is a huge problem now; how can it not change for the worse? With a “roundabout”? Roundabouts take a very large amount of land; where would that come from? The Plaza, businesses in its pathway?
If that development gets an OK, in that particular spot, how can I continue to brag about our wonderful little hometown to my family and others who come to visit? Not going to look so little anymore.
I’m afraid for the Sonoma we know now. I doubt if it could keep up its reputation as a town with a small-town ambience, and lots of
history.
In my mind, this design and size just don’t fit the suggested area. Much more could be said, but let this suffice for now.
