Celebrating Mexico’s Independence Day

Mexican culture and heritage were celebrated in the Plaza on Sunday, Sept. 16, in a daylong celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day organized by the nonprofit Nuestra Voz. The day included speeches from local dignitaries, plenty of sumptuous Mexican food and numerous performances from Quetzalen, Sonoma’s Mexican Ballet Folklórico. Above, Kelsie Jimenez marked her first performance with Quetzalen.
