Career field trip wows students
Submitted photo
Seven Sonoma teens were invited on a special private tour of the CBS Channel 5 studios in San Francisco, thanks to Sonoma Teen Services’ Skills for Life Career Field Trip program. The teens watched first-hand as the afternoon news was filmed, had a photo taken with news anchors Frank Mallicoat and Lawrence Karnow, and even ended up on the evening news. The teens were introduced to computer engineers, sports writers, news reporters and editors, and saw where all the writers, editors and researchers work. Tom also talked to the teens about internship and sales opportunities. Pictured left to right are: Osmara Perez, Carlos Ordaz, Daniel Herrera, anchor Frank Mallicoat, Nahomi Perez, Andrew Michaels, Courtney Bristow, anchor Lawrence Karnow, and Cristin Lawrence, SVTS executive director. Sonoman Andrea Potts is a freelance commercial photography producer and she arranged the visit. Teenagers interested in participating in this and other “Skills for Life” programs and seminars, should contact Lawrence at 935-1452.
