Boys soccer Dragons top Petaluma

The Sonoma Valley High School boys soccer Dragons beat Petaluma 2-0 Tuesday afternoon.
Manny Young tallied both goals for the Dragons, while Danny Montes and Fidel Garcia each picked up an assist.
Sonoma was on the road at Piner Thursday, results not available at press-time.
The Dragons matches next will be also be road games, at Elsie Allen on Tuesday and at Analy on Thursday.

Sonoma boys took second, third and fourth in a three-way cross country meet Wednesday at Maxwell Farms Regional Park.
Both the boys and girls ran against Analy and Windsor.
For the boys, senior Chris Tose was second in a time of 14:56, nine seconds behind the Windsor runner who won the race. Junior Owen Ljung was third (15:12), Christian Martinez was fourth (15:39), Keegan Ginter was seventh (15:58) and Ryland Osborne was ninth (16:10).
Ty Haury finished 14th in a time of 16:53, Peter Gray was 16th (16:58), Greg Maggioncalda was 19th (17:46), Return Bongiovnni was 20th (17:51), Pablo Cruz was 38th (19:36), Bailey Zellers was 43rd (20:40) and Ian Sloop was 44th (21:17).
In the girls meet, Gianna Biaggi was Sonoma’s top finisher at fourth in a time of 18:40. Hanna Cenci was sixth (19:23), Laura Amador was eighth (20:32), Maddy Libbey was 12th (20:52) and Brianna Lehane was 19th (22:21).
The Dragon thinclads will be participating in the Stanford Invitational on Saturday.

The boys water polo team dropped a 14-7 decision to Vintage High School Wednesday in a non-league match.
Arthur Morgan scored three goals, Chase Campion added two while Sebastian Amara and Wyatt Casella each had one goal.
Both the boys and girls will be back in action next Wednesday, Oct. 3, when they entertain Ukiah at the Sonoma Aquatic Center. The girls start at 4 p.m., the boys at 5 p.m. and the JV boys at 6 p.m.

The Lady Dragon soccer team fell 3-0 to Petaluma Wednesday evening. After a scoreless first half, Petaluma broke through the Dragons’ defense with quick counter attacks to put up three goals and take the game.
The Lady Dragon junior varsity will take on Elsie Allen at 4 p.m. today at the high school soccer field.
The varsity is back in action next Wednesday, Oct. 3, when they entertain Piner in a 7 p.m. match at Arnold Field.
