Barbara Horan

April 4, 1931 – Sept. 19, 2012

Barbara, 81, was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to Daniel and Marjorie Booth.

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her daughter, Mary (1958).

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughters, Sally Hanson (Kim) and Martha O’Keefe (Tom); granddaughters, Sarah and Grace Sinclair. She is also survived by her sisters, Sally MacKenzie (Bob), Jane Bourjot (Frank) and Patricia Dalgleish (David); sister-in-law, Dorothy Young; and brother-in-law, Bruce Horan (Ann Marie) as well as, several nieces and nephews.

Barbara spent her formidable years in Windsor where she and Jerry met while working together in a local bank. They were married 58 years ago on Oct. 9, 1954. Together they spent the next eight years in Windsor where their three daughters were born. In 1962, they decided to move their family to California.

In addition to raising her family and working part-time in banking, Barbara developed a passionate interest in reading, quilting and playing bridge, all of which she thoroughly enjoyed until her recent illness. For Barbara, though, the most important aspect was all the friendships she developed while enjoying her passions.

At Barbara’s request, cremation has taken place. Family services will be private. In honor of Barbara, a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the family home, 495 Eastin Drive, Sonoma, CA 95476. All of her friends and neighbors are welcome.

Special thanks to Dr. Dennis Verducci, Sonoma; Dr. David Minor, San Francisco oncology; and the wonderful staff of Sonoma Valley Hospital’s skilled nursing department.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to: Hanna Boys Center, Vintage House or the charity of your choice.
